Reading Brevity #1 Winners!
I held a poetry contest on All Poetry, called- "Reading Brevity" the entire idea of the contest was, that the winners will read their poems out loud on camera and I will edit it into a YouTube video and announce them on my website.
So here they are! -
🥇 And then.... - Linda Evans
And then....
As cool Autumn breezes blow
falling leaves in colours of every conceivable hue
thickly carpet the earth below.
Throughout Winter
trees, brutally bare
resemble Giacometti statues standing there
weathering the storms, the snow.
Meanwhile, finally finally the advent of Spring
miraculously reinvigorates everything
as tiny green leaflets and blossoms galore
.proliferate, here there everywhere, once more
and O
what an absolutely glorious sight they are to behold
after endless Winter's bleakly stark, dark
bitterly cold ruthlessly relentless stranglehold.
🥈 autumn brevity - Kareneisenlord Klge
Two white butterflies
flit among squash gourds
in last rites of fertility.
The harvest moon
rises above shedding ash trees
like a huge, blanched pumpkin.
Zucchini grows outside the log cabin
with the smell of baking bread
wafting through an open window,
seeds sprouting on the windowsill.
Torches of colors reflect
through thick rolling fog,
oak trees’ flaming leaves
on the sleepy river’s edge.
🥉 [Awoke missing you] - Sarah 28
Awoke missing you
memories of a father’s love
Spring wind at my door
Lovely brevity poems to read about autumn!
